Welcome to the conference page for Skeletons, Stories and Social Bodies!
SSSB is an inter-disciplinary conference covering all aspects of death, the body, mortuary practices, and more. Our aim is to provide a platform for 'death academics' and 'death professionals' alike to present their work, network, and spark interesting discussions. We will be including podium presentations, Pecha Kucha presentations, poster presentations, and a series of workshops for everyone to showcase their work.
The conference is based upon some of the themes touched upon by two members of the Committee, Sarah Schwarz and Stephanie Evelyn-Wright, during their Lifelong Learning module of the same title. You can find out more about the themes on our website.
SSSB is will be held at the University of Southampton, and will be jointly hosted by the Department of Archaeology and the Centre for Learning Anatomical Sciences. While the committee is made up of archaeologists and anatomists, we welcome delegates from all departments/industries covering 'death'.
More information will be coming soon. Keep checking our website for more updates, or sign up for our mailing list to get notifications straight to your inbox (see bottom right of the homepage).
